Amy teaches classical guitar lessons and arranges, composes, and records music for classical guitar.
In addition to teaching classical guitar, Amy also teaches Alexander Technique & Yoga to musicians from all walks of life, and she strongly believes in the importance of wellness and health for musicians.
All lessons are currently online and will remain online until Covid-19 settles down.
Guitar lessons are available for students ages six to adult and all levels from beginning to advanced. Students will learn technique, music theory, and a variety of songs. Lessons are scheduled once a week for 30, 45, or 60 minutes.
Alexander Technique teaches ease and efficiency of movement. Amy teaches Alexander Technique to musicians of all backgrounds, including singers, pianists, guitarists, violinists, cellists, and drummers. Alexander Technique teaches us to move in ways that decrease pain and tension and increase musicality, stage presence, and enjoyment of making music.
Yoga for Musicians classes are designed specifically for anyone that plays an instrument. As musicians, we often make the same repetitive movements and hold static postures that can wear down certain muscles and joints over time. These classes counteract the repetitive movements we make and postures that we hold ourselves in. We gently stretch the fingers, wrists, arms, shoulders, neck, and hips to release any buildup of tension or tightness that we may have from playing our instruments. We increase strength and flexibility in areas that may have weakened due to lack of use or poor posture. We learn practical anatomy to improve alignment and move easefully, the way our bodies were intended to move, and we apply this to playing our instruments.
